May 1st brought both spring and summer on the very same day. I’d been enjoying a long, rather cold spring, which gave me time to catch up – with myself and with the preparations in the garden and the pottery studio. Now the heat arrived and it was suddenly midsummer. Lovely, but also a bit stressful. There’s a lot to fit in all at once.
There’s a good month left until the season starts in earnest. From midsummer, June 25th, I’ll have fixed opening hours. Until then I’m sporadically open on weekends – keep an eye here so you know when.
Right now I’m sketching for the new season. My greatest inspiration over the years has been the garden, and Hammenhög is known as the flower village for a reason. Seed pods have stayed with me for a long time, in shape and in glaze – there’s something in their economy, how everything is gathered and yet on its way out.
